Short description of routes

I have written elsewhere about riding up these challenging mountains: it may be worth reading my remarks.

Here I present two routes :

  • The first incorporates some gravel roads – nothing that a road bike with 28mm can’t handle but more comfortable on a gravel bike (or any other bike with 35mm tires or wider).
  • The second is the 100% road option, more palatable than described in my blog because route 214 between Scotstown and la Patrie has new tarmac (completed in 2023).

Each route incorporates the two summits, but obviously you can choose to climb only one of them!

The perspicacious amongst you will of course note that another option is to combine the routes, looping round Mont Mégantic with the two mountains thrown in.

Notre Dame des Bois has a store and La Patrie has a store and a diner (check opening hours!).
