Short description

This route starts off West on route 214 out of Scotstown. Route 214 is OK to cycle, but does not have a decent shoulder in many places.

After about 12.5km turn left onto Chemin de Herringville (gravel) – from this point the ride gets quieter.

At Island Brook there is a diner (Chez Pierre et Céline ) – but check opening hours. Route 212, which you will ride on a little at Island Brook, then again as you come off Chemin Lawrence and head into la Patrie, is a good road with a wide shoulder.

The suggested route takes you back to Scotstown along route 257, a newly tarmaced road, which is pleasant to cycle along since it is not a radial road out of Sherbrooke, but a cross road between villages.

Alternative routes include turning left, before La Patrie, onto route Daniel (a gravel road that features, in the other direction, in the La Patrie loop), and turning, after la Patrie, onto Rang Cohoes (also featuring in the La Patrie loop).
